Autocar announces the intended 16 model line up in Land Rover’s future.

AUTOCAR, the original car weekly has recently announced Land Rover’s future intentions with their comprehensive 16 model line-up.

The range will be split in to three divisions: luxury; leisure and utility.

LUXURY (RANGE ROVER/RANGE ROVER SPORT/RANGE ROVER EVOQUE)

  1. RANGE ROVER – The new flagship, with potentially a £125K+ price. Next year will see a long wheelbase version. A facelift is due in 2016.
  2. RANGE ROVER SPORT – With wedgier looks and an alloy platform the Sport will be offered in a 5+2 seating format. On sale next year.
  3. RANGE ROVER EVOQUE XL – Slotting between the present Evoque and the new Sport, the model is tipped to use an alloy platform.
  4. RANGE ROVER EVOQUE – Clearly the manufacturer’s biggest seller, with sales of approximately 105,000 units in 2012.
  5. RANGE ROVER EVOQUE CABRIO – Aimed at such markets as the U.S., the model is clearly tipped for production.
  6. RANGE ROVER BABY EVOQUE – Although production is presently seen as an outside bet it would only be 4m long! Design boss McGovern wants to build it!

LEISURE (LAND ROVER DISCOVERY/LAND ROVER FREELANDER)

  1. LAND ROVER DISCOVERY LUXURY – Although not currently signed off, it would clearly be a flagship crossover and an X5 rival. The exterior would be based on the Range Rover Sport’s alloy architecture, whilst the interior would allow a 7-seater capability.
  2. LAND ROVER DISCOVERY – A direct replacement for the current Discovery 4, tipped once again to be using an alloy platform. A great rival to the Mercedes Benz G-Class.
  3. LAND ROVER FREELANDER “SUPER” SEVEN-SEATER – Sharing the scalable steel platform with the Range Rover Evoque, we will see a larger and more U.S. friendly model.
  4. LAND ROVER FREELANDER “SUPER” FIVE SEATER – With a far more sleaker appearance than today’s car, we will see a far bigger boot and a V6 option. A clear target to the Audi Q5.
  5. LAND ROVER FREELANDER “BABY” – Being a similar size to the present Range Rover Evoque, we will see a completeley new style-led design.

UTILITY (LAND ROVER DEFENDER/LAND ROVER DC100)

  1. LAND ROVER DEFENDER PICK-UP – Being offered in a high-capacity crew-cab and pick-up variants, we will not see this model until late 2015/early 2016. We may see the use of the present day Discovery 4’s T5 platform.
  2. LAND ROVER DEFENDER LWB – A true replacement for today’s 110 with a 7-seater option. Not expected until 2016/2017.
  3. LAND ROVER DEFENDER SWB/STANDARD – A standard wheelbase option for a 5-seat configuration. Production time to be similar to the LWB.
  4. LAND ROVER DEFENDER – It is expected for the current car to be produced for developing markets when UK production is terminated. We, at BMG expect it to be built in perhaps India.
  5. LAND ROVER DC100 – With a style-led urban feel, this 100-inch wheelbased model is expected to be based on the Range Rover Evoque. Clearly a “young feel” lifestyle model!
