Why we need it

We may collect, process and use your personal data in the course of supplying motor vehicles, goods and any associated services to you.

This may be controlled in a number of ways. At the time of any enquiry, we will collect certain personal information in order for us to respond to your enquiry and/or to process and complete any purchase. When finance is required, BMG may act as the “Intermediary” where certain personal information is passed on to third parties in order to provide initial quotes and subsequent agreements. Your personal information is required for the production of invoices and accounting purposes. Such processes are required in order to meet HMRC legislation. In order to meet employment law obligations, we will collect personal data from our employees. Upon gaining your consent for the receipt of marketing communications, we will send you such communications in your preferred method of sending (telephone, post, e-mail and/or SMS).

What we do with it

We do not share your data with any third parties, except where you have given us your absolute consent. It will be necessary to share your data for the facilitation of finance quotes, finance agreements, insurance, warranty cover and/or where we are under a duty to comply with any legal obligation.

How long we keep it

If your application for finance is declined or if your application is accepted but you do not proceed, we will keep your information for 6 months or as long as necessary to deal with any queries you may have. If your application is accepted and you proceed, we will generally retain your personal data for 7 years, after which time it will be destroyed if it is no longer required for the lawful purpose(s) for which it was obtained. If you consent to marketing, any information we use for this purpose will be kept with us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.

If you have a complaint

If you have any issues about how we have handled your personal data, please contact us using the contact details above. If you are not happy with how we manage your complaint, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
